Feb. 23: Summer Research Assistant for Graduate Lawyering

Posted on

The Graduate Lawyering Program seeks applications from current LLM and JD students for one or more paid part-time Research Assistant positions for Summer 2024. The Research Assistant will help us prepare and update course materials for our Introduction to US Law and Introduction to US Legal Practice courses. The Graduate Lawyering faculty with whom you may work include Judge Gerald Lebovits and Professors Alice Burke, Susan Chung, and Rachael Liebert.

The RA will research hypothetical fact patterns for exams; research legal developments in various areas of law, including Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Reproductive Rights, Consumer Arbitration, and Punitive Damages; and help revise PowerPoint presentations. You should have excellent legal research, analytical, and English writing skills. The position starts between May 28 and June 10 (flexible) and continues until early August. The hours per week are flexible but will typically be around 15-20 hours/week.

You must be both physically present and legally authorized to work in the United States at all times you are performing RA duties. If you are relying on OPT for work authorization, you should request an OPT start date sufficiently early to permit Human Resources to process your appointment in advance of beginning RA duties.

To apply for the Research Assistant position, please email your cover letter, resume, and a copy of your transcript (unofficial copy is fine) to Caitlin Dean, caitlin.dean@nyu.edu. The deadline for applications is Friday, February 23, 2024.
