Oct. 2: Careers in Criminal Defense – A Conversation with Scott Hechinger and Sarah Lustbader

Posted on

Are you a 1L interested in criminal defense but undecided about whether to pursue client-centered defense work or policy reform work?  Join Professor Rachel Barkow in conversation with Scott Hechinger ’10 and Sarah Lustbader ’10 as they discuss their careers and the pros and cons of both sides.  After nearly a decade of working as a public defender at Brooklyn Defender Services, Scott Hechinger co-founded and serves as the Director of Zealous, a national initiative to activate, support, and train local defenders in tandem with the community and the people they serve.  Sarah Lustbader began her career at Bronx Defenders, spent many years working on policy reform at the Vera Institute for Justice and The Appeal, and will now be returning to direct services at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem.

Date: Friday, October 2nd
Time: 12:00-1:00pm
Via Zoom
