Check Now: Is your laptop’s operating system supported for Fall 2019 exams?

Please note that the Exam4 software used in all NYU School of Law courses now supports only the following operating systems:

  • Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Education and Enterprise)
  • Windows 8.1 (Home, Pro and Enterprise)
  •  macOS 10.14 Mojave
  •  macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra

All other versions Windows and macOS are no longer supported. Please take the time now to check if your laptop has a supported version of the operating system.

How do I check my operating system?

  • For Windows instructions visit Microsoft
  • For Mac instructions go to Apple

It is best practice to always backup your laptop before making any major changes, such as an operating system upgrade. We recommend keeping your files in cloud storage such as Google Drive, copying files to a USB flash drive, or using backup software such as Time Machine.

What do I do if my laptop cannot be upgraded?

Visit the NYU Computer Store or any other retailer of your choice to purchase a supported laptop. As a reminder, you can find the current laptop requirements on our laptop requirements web page.
