Apply Now to Enroll in Spanish for Lawyers at NYU Law, Spring 2018!


The Office of Global Programs is pleased to announce that Spanish for Lawyers will be offered during the Spring 2018 semester on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:20 PM. See the course description here. The deadline to apply for the course is this Monday, January 8 at 9:00 AM. See below for details on the application process and more information about the course.


To enroll in the course, interested students will be required to complete an intake process supervised by the instructor to ensure appropriate skill level for the course. To be considered for the class, complete the following by Monday, January 8 at 9:00 AM:

  • Complete in English the Interest Questionnaire available here.
  • Submit a written statement in Spanish to the Office of Global Programs  at The written statement should describe your interest in the course, your past experiences learning Spanish, and the areas of law in which you are most interested. Please also include any specific legal career goals and how this course will help you achieve them. Statements submitted in English will not be considered.


Both steps must be completed for consideration to the course. You will be contacted regarding your application to the course by the start of the Spring semester, and the approved cohort of students will then be registered manually by Records and Registration. In the meantime, the class will remain closed to bids on COURSES.


Spanish for Lawyers is a non-degree 2-credit course, running from January 23, 2018 through April 17, 2018. The course is intended for high-intermediate speakers only, and 1Ls are not permitted to enroll. While the course does not count for degree credit, students will receive a notation on their transcript. There will be no exam nor outside of class work. However, please note that students will not be permitted to drop the course after the first two weeks of class, and only one absence will be permitted during the semester unless otherwise cleared by the instructor.
