Second-year students with a demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and civil rights and strong skills are invited to apply for 2021-2022 Fellowships in the Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Program.  The Program provides 3L students with support as they work with non-profit organizations engaged in impact litigation, policy analysis, or direct services related to civil liberties and civil rights.  Specific areas of focus may include such topics as First Amendment freedoms (speech, press, free exercise, Church-state), racial equality, immigrants’ rights, criminal justice, economic justice, reproductive and women’s rights, and LGBTQ rights. Materials describing the Program and the selection process are available on the NYU Hays website.

The current Hays Fellows will discuss their experiences in the Program and answer your questions on Zoom.  The dates are Tuesday February 2nd from 4:20-5:20 and Wednesday February 3rd from 6:30 -7:30.  We encourage interested students to attend one of these sessions.  A link to these Zoom meetings will be posted in January.

Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, February 10, 2021, noon, in a single PDF packet emailed to Gail Thomas,  Thank you for your consideration.
