Second-year students with a demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and civil rights and strong skills are invited to apply for 2019-2020 Fellowships in the Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Program. The Program provides 3L students with fellowship support as they complete two substantial placements with non-profit organizations engaged in impact litigation, policy work, or direct services related to civil liberties and civil rights. Specific areas of focus may include such topics as First Amendment freedoms (speech, press, free exercise, Church-state), racial equality, immigrants’ rights, criminal justice, economic justice, reproductive and women’s rights, and LGBTQ rights. Materials describing the Program and the selection process are available on the NYU Hays website.
The current Hays Fellows will discuss their experiences in the Program and answer your questions from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29 and January 30, 2019 in the East wing of Golding Lounge. We encourage interested students to attend this meeting.
Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, February 13, 2019, noon, in a single PDF packet emailed to Gail Thomas, email@example.com. All applicants and all finalists will be interviewed. Thank you for your consideration.
