Nov. 08: Call for Applications: ICC Moot Court Competition

Posted on

The Center for Human Rights and Global Justice is accepting applications for the NYU Team that will compete in the International Criminal Court (ICC) Moot Court Competition.  Regional rounds will be held at Pace Law School in White Plains, New York March 11-12, 2023. Qualifying teams will advance to the finals and argue before ICC judges in The Hague in June 2023. Travel and accommodation expenses to The Hague will be covered.

International criminal law is a fascinating subject and sits at the confluence of domestic criminal law, general international law, and human rights law. Team members will work on a whole range of issues, sharpen their legal research and writing, gain experience with oral arguments, and work with a fantastic group of people.

While preparation will begin this semester, the submission of written materials will require work over the winter break, and participation in oral arguments will take place during the spring. The international criminal law component can be learned effectively during the process, though previous knowledge is an advantage.

Eligibility

JD, LLM, and JSD students currently enrolled at NYU Law are eligible, but only those not admitted to practice law in any jurisdiction.

Please submit the following materials by Thursday, November 8th by 5:00 p.m. to Brianne Cuffe at cuffeb@mercury.law.nyu.edu, with “ICC 2022-23 Team Application” in the subject line. These must be compiled in a single PDF document.
