The application for the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network’s Women’s Leadership Fellows Program (WLFP), open to 1L JD students, closes Sunday, September 27, at 4:00 p.m. EDT. The cohort will be selected on or before Thursday, November 5.
The WLFP is a co-curricular leadership development opportunity for 10-12 students in which participants will build key leadership skills. Students apply and are selected as Fellows in the fall of their 1L year and participate in programming throughout their time at NYU Law. The WLFP begins with the Sara Moss Women’s Leadership Training Program, a rigorous week-long leadership development program for 1L Fellows that combines self-assessment, instruction, experiential learning, team-building, coaching, and mentoring. Each Fellow will receive a stipend of $2,500 in their 1L year. Due to the three-year nature of this program, it is only open to 1L JD students.
The 2021 Sara Moss Women’s Leadership Training is expected to take place January 11-15, 2021, before classes resume for the Spring semester.
We seek students whose backgrounds, experiences, and application responses indicate a willingness to commit to the program and an openness to developing their leadership skills individually and with other members of their cohort. We seek to build a diverse, inclusive cohort, and we welcome applications from any student seeking woman-focused leadership training, including, but not limited to, all who identify as women, trans, gender non-conforming, non-binary, or genderqueer. Students who have not previously had the opportunity to develop their leadership skills are encouraged to apply.
For a preview of some of the programming offered as part of the WLFP, students are invited to attend the virtual workshop “Suddenly Silent: Strategies to Speak Up and Stand Out” on Monday, September 21, at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
