The IP and Entertainment Law Ledger

We are thrilled to announce the Law School’s first official online publication, the IP and Entertainment Law Ledger. The Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Society (IPELS) has worked hard with the administration over the past several months to lay the groundwork for this very exciting project, and we want you to be a part of it.

The Ledger will publish editorials and contributions from entertainment/IP lawyers, managers, agents, studio executives, and other industry professionals, which content will be supplemented by student notes. Its unique online format will allow for timely discussion of developments in the entertainment and IP fields. The Ledger is a first for NYU and unique among top law schools, and the publication is sure to add to NYU Law’s growing reputation as the center of IP/entertainment law education on the east coast.

We are currently forming an editorial staff of ten students. We anticipate the time commitment of our editorial staff to be significantly less than that of other journals: staff will manage outreach to industry professionals and content solicitation; evaluate student contributions; and update the publication on legal developments in the entertainment, technology, art and media industries. Bluebooking and cite-checking will be minimal, due simply to the nature of our publication and the length and style of the contributions we will publish.

If you wish to be a part of this ground-breaking project, please e-mail the following to apply.ledger@gmail.com by Friday, September 4:

-A brief (under 200 word) description of a potential editorial that you would like to see The Ledger publish, related to any recent development in the fields of entertainment, internet, sports, technology or art law.
-A brief (under 400 word) personal statement describing your past experience, career ambitions, and interest in The Ledger.
-A résumé

We look forward to hearing from you,

Graham Ballou, Co-Chair
Jason Tyler, Co-Chair
