College Athletics: Is Anyone In Charge?:

The New York University School of Law Office of Development and Alumni Relations cordially invites you to attend the 2012 Law Alumni Association (LAA) Annual Fall Lecture titled, “College Athletics: Is Anyone in Charge?” moderated by University Professor Arthur Miller on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Nominate Yourself or a Classmate!

Each year, the Washington Square News profiles NYU students who have had a meaningful impact on the university and their surrounding community for their Influential Students Issue. They are now accepting nominations for the 2012 issue, which will be published in December. The Law School has been asked to submit a nomination by the end of this week.

If you would like to nominate a classmate or yourself, please submit your nomination by email to Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Arthur Fama at arthur.fama@nyu.edu by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15. Please include the following in your submission: the student’s name, year, and a 100-word description about why the student deserves to be recognized.

SBA Hurricane Sandy Relief Drive:

To help with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, the SBA will be conducting a relief drive this week, Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Golding Lounge. They will be accepting both monetary and food donations. Please be sure to drop of whatever you can!

Celebrate Thanksgiving Day on Campus!

Join your classmates this Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy a festive dinner on campus.  An elegant buffet with traditional holiday favorites will be served from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in D’Agostino Hall, located at 110 West 3rd Street.  All Law School students, their spouses, domestic partners, and children are invited.  If you are going to be on campus for Thanksgiving, we hope you will be able to join us!  RSVP by Monday, November 19, 2012.  If you are bringing guests, please provide their information in the RSVP system as well. Yoga:

Free Yoga in Furman Hall every Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in Guarini Study Lounge (Room 112), right next door to Wachtell Student Cafe.  This event is sponsored by the Open Meditation and Yoga Association.

You may be interested in this new online resource for law students. It contains valuable information specifically for law students about coping with anxiety and stress. Please click here for more information.

The Mindfulness Project at NYU: Please check out The Mindfulness Project at NYU’s newsletter for upcoming events and activities. Among other things, the Mindfulness Project regularly schedules meditation and yoga sessions. All sessions are drop-in; space and mats are first come, first served. If you are a recognized NYU School of Law student group, we are happy to help you publicize your upcoming events in the Office of Student Affairs Weekly Newsletter. Events must first be posted on the law school calendar at: https://its.law.nyu.edu/ems/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.login. Following your calendar submission, please email the Office of Student Affairs at law.studentaffairs@nyu.edu with your calendar link. You MUST submit a calendar link to be considered for the newsletter. Submissions must be received by Thursday at 5:00 p.m. for publication the following Monday morning.
