Tutoring Program

Tutoring Program: Tutee Eligibility

The Office of Student Affairs offers a confidential academic tutoring program for J.D. and LL.M. students. Students seeking tutors must note the following:
• Tutoring is not available to first-semester 1Ls.
• Tutoring is available on a limited basis to LL.M. students.
• Students may request a tutor for a maximum of two courses.
• You must request a tutor no later than Friday, November 6.
• We will attempt to assign tutors to students in academic need, but cannot guarantee that we can do so in every case. (Generally need is demonstrated by having received two B- (or lower) grades during your career at NYU.)
• The program is free of charge.

To request a tutor, please send your name, your class, your telephone number, the classes in which you are seeking a tutor (including the instructor’s name), and a copy of your unofficial transcript to law.studentaffairs@nyu.edu.

Tutoring Program: Tutor Recruitment

Students are needed to work with other students who have requested tutors. Students who tutor must have received a grade of “A-” or better in the course(s) of interest. The tutoring stipend is $12 per hour. Specific hours for tutoring sessions are arranged between the tutor and tutee. Tutees usually require two to three hours of assistance per week. If you are interested in acting as a tutor, please contact Paul O’Grady, Associate Director for Student Affairs at 212-998-6397 or paul.ogrady@nyu.edu.
