The New York University School of Law Office of Development and Alumni Relations cordially invites you to attend the 2013 Law Alumni Association (LAA) Annual Fall Conference titled, “The Future of Voting Rights.” The conference, co-sponsored by the LAA and the NYU Journal of Legislation and Public Policy, will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Vanderbilt Hall, located at 40 Washington Square South. A reception will immediately follow the conference. Two Continuing Legal Education credits will be available to attendees.
This conference will explore the future of voting rights in the United States – are new regulations required or is the United States finally at a point where the right to vote is guaranteed to all?
Richard Pildes, Sudler Family Professor of Constitutional Law will moderate the conference. Panelists include Robert Bauer, senior lecturer at NYU School of Law and co-chair of the Presidential Commission on Election Administration; Julie Fernandes, senior policy analyst at Open Society Foundations; Benjamin L. Ginsberg, partner and lobbyist at Patton Boggs and co-chair of the Presidential Commission on Election Administration; Dale Ho, director of the ACLU Voting Rights Project; Spencer A. Overton, professor of law at George Washington University Law School; and Myrna Pérez, deputy director of the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice.
