Single Stream Recycling Comes to Vanderbilt and Furman Halls
Recycle Almost Everything . . . All In The Same Bin!
All of the Law School’s recycling bins are now Mixed Recyclable Bins (MRBs) ~ Even if they are not marked as such.
What you CAN RECYCLE in the MRBs:
- All Dry Paper & Cardboard (Boxes, Newspapers, Milk/Juice Cartons, Mail, Paper, Soiled Pizza Boxes, Coffee/To-Go Cups, Soiled Pizza Boxes, etc.)
- All Plastics & Plastic Films (Plastic bags, Bottles, Clean/Emptied Food Storage Containers, Plastic Film/Wrap, Plastic Silverware and Cups, Lids of To-Go cups, etc.; see “special notes to remember” for more details)
- All Glass Containers
- All Metals (Cans, Clean Foil & Food Storage Containers, etc.)
Please DO NOT put these items in the MRBs:
- Liquids or wet materials
- Food waste (Food waste may be placed in the compost bin located in the D’Agostino Hall Commons)
Special Notes To Remember:
- Please do your best to remove food from plastic containers (i.e., remove the leftover salad). It?s okay if there is a little food residue.
- DON’T WORRY about the numbers on plastics anymore~it all goes in the MRBs!
- ALL recycling bins are MRBs, no matter how they are marked.
- DO NOT recycle the compostable silverware from Golding and Wachtell. This silverware is made of organic material, not plastic. We hope to have composting will be available soon! (For now, great ways to avoid waste are to bring your own silverware or compost your silverware in D’Agostino)
- Remember that while recycling is great, re-using is even better…and cheaper. The Golding and Wachtell cafes offer discounts if you Bring Your Own Mug, and you can also save resources by bringing your own water bottle, forks, cloth napkin, etc.
Thanks so much, and please let Facilities, Residence Services, or the Sustainability Committee know if you have any questions or comments about the new system.
