Laptop Compliance: This Friday!

There are only a few days left until the compliance deadline. If you have an in-class exam, you must submit a completed Exam4 Practice Exam before 2pm, Friday April 27th for the Spring 2012 semester. Please take a few minutes to go through the necessary steps outlined in the Exam Readiness e-mail you received from ITS on April 9th.

Not sure of your compliance status? Find that, your testid, and any successful exam uploads at ExamReporter (http://examreporter.law.nyu.edu). If you have already successfully uploaded the Practice Exam and confirmed your compliance status at ExamReporter you may disregard this message.

Warning: If you cannot confirm your status as Compliant at ExamReporter, you will not get back any time lost due to a computer problem during an in-class exam.

Remote Proctor
If you’re examining with Remote Proctor, you must submit a completed Remote Proctor Qualification Exam before 2pm, Friday April 27th for the Spring 2012 semester.

If you have successfully completed the Qualification Exam, you’ll receive an email from Software Secure indicating a successful upload. The Remote Proctor Qualification Exam will not be reflected in ExamReporter.

Blackboard Scheduled Maintenance 4/20

Blackboard will be unavailable from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012.Blackboard users will be unable to login during this window, and open sessions will be logged out.

ITS will be performing regularly scheduled maintenance on the evening of Friday, April 20, 2012. During this maintenance window ITS will be hardware used to host Blackboard. Service will be restored by 12:00 a.m., at which time users will be able to login to Blackboard as usual.

Restore Archived Courses on Blackboard

Want to restore an archived course? Check out the university’s new self-service tool called the Course Archive Browser: a course restoration tool.

The Course Archive Browser allows instructors to search for their own archived course and restore it.

Check out the link above for more info and instructions or simply follow these four steps:

Log into your Blackboard course and select the Control Panel.
Under Course Tools select Course Archive Browser.
Select Request a Course Restoration.
You will now see a drop down list of all your previous archived courses. Only those past courses that you were an instructor for will be listed. Select the course you wish to restore. Choose the availability and click Submit.

Once the restoration is complete, you will be able to see your restored class at NYUHome in the Blackboard Course channel under the Academics Tab.

Note: The restoration process might take a couple of minutes depending on how much content is stored in the archive.

Spring 2011 Courses Now Available on Blackboard for Faculty

Faculty and staff can now find SP12 courses available in Blackboard. You can start modifying your course shell and adding content now. Students will see these courses as their professor’s make them available closer to next semester.

If you want to have your calendar open in a separate window from your mail, you can easily do so by simply right-clicking on the navigation buttons in the left-hand corner and selecting “Open in New Window”.

Exam4 No Longer Supporting Windows XP

Starting Fall 2011, all students with PCs must have at least Windows Vista or Windows7 as their operating system in order to run our exam software, Exam4.

Website Training – New Basic Editing Training Video

Starting this semester, a new basic website editing training video is available online. This will take the place of in-person training. Watch the training video listed on the Web Help page on your own time and then email the contact info at the end to receive an editing account.
