In this challenging economic market, we believe that all 1Ls who intend to participate in EIW 2012 would benefit from an early assessment of their interviewing skills so that each interview is maximized during Early Interview Week. As such, OCS will be holding 15 minute “mini-mock” interview sessions from March 13-April 16 in the OCS offices. You may sign up for a session by going to the Events Tab on CSM/Symplicity. Spaces and times are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. In preparation, please familiarize yourself with the “Interview Skills” portion of the Career Development Resources Handbook. You must have an up-to-date resume uploaded to CSM in advance of your mini-mock interview.

Thursday, April 12, 2012, 4:00-5:30 p.m., Vanderbilt Hall, Tishman Auditorium
In order to provide you with all of the necessary details regarding EIW, we are holding a mandatory session for 1Ls entitled “Strike-A-Match” (SAM) on April 12th. In the SAM session, the OCS Counselors will provide an introduction to Early Interview Week (EIW) including logistics, practical advice on selecting employers and developing a job search strategy based upon your experience, academic records and individual goals all based on historical data. As a reminder, this session is highly confidential and WILL NOT BE WEBSTREAMED. If you plan to participate in EIW, you are required to attend this session.
Public interest-directed students interviewing EXCLUSIVELY with government and public interest employers during EIW should attend a separate PILC meeting on Wednesday, April 11 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Furman Hall, Room 120, in lieu of the OCS Strike-A-Match session.

Thinking about interviewing with DC firms at EIW? DC firms have important differences in culture, work opportunities, and access to government jobs. But applying at EIW can be trickier to navigate than NYC.
The panel consists of Jeremy Zucker, Partner/Hiring Committee, Hogan Lovells (NYU ’00); Scott Christensen, Partner/Hiring Committee, Hughes Hubbard (NYU ’97); and Matt Robinson, Summer Associate, WilmerHale (NYU ’12). Wendy Siegel of OCS will moderate. They will discuss what DC practice is like and help you decide if its right for you as well as what to do at interview time to make sure you land the gig.
