Start of Classes Reminders Checklist for Upper-Year Students

Posted on

Welcome back! We hope that you had a wonderful summer. Classes begin Wednesday, August 30. Fall 2017 Daily Cycles begin on August 25 at 1:30 pm and end on September 7 at 9:30 am. The cycles will run daily between 1:30 pm until 9:30 am the following morning. If you would like to make a change to your schedule during this time you may add/drop classes and/or place yourself on a waitlist.

Here is a brief checklist to ensure that you have not missed important matters regarding the start of classes.

Class Assignments

NYU Classes – Check NYU Classes for syllabi and assignments for any courses for which you are registered. It is important to check NYU Classes on a regular basis as professors may post new assignments and information at any time. Please note that not all faculty post assignments. You should email law.helpdesk@nyu.edu if you have any issues or difficulties with accessing NYU Classes.

Course Syllabi or Early Semester Assignments – Not registered for a course but considering registering during add/drop? Check the Course Syllabi and Early Semester Assignments web page.

Attendance: You should check the course descriptions of your classes regarding attendance. There are some professors who state that they will drop students if they miss the first class.

Schedules of Classes and Course Requirements: Please review the Fall 2017 course schedule, course requirements, exam schedule, pre/co-requisites and any information which is stated in the course description. Be sure to check the course schedule for any revised room assignments.

Online Course Updates: All changes in the curriculum will and have been posted on the Course Updates web site. You must check the site regularly for updated course information such as new courses, canceled courses, corrections to the schedule, as well as to review requirements, dates, deadlines, final examination information, etc.

Closed Seminars/Colloquia/Simulations: The law school rules permit faculty to admit up to two students to seminars/colloquia/simulations during the first class meeting (depending on space availability in the room) outside the regular registration procedures. If you wish to obtain one of these two spots in an eligible class, please obtain an add/drop form from your program office, have the professor sign the same and return it to your program office immediately. Please remember that the limit is two students regardless of the number of instructors. We will admit only the first two students whose add/drop forms we receive with the instructor’s signature. The instructors should not admit any students until after the first meeting because students may be able to gain admission online using COURSES.

Calendars: Please pay careful attention to the dates and deadlines in the Academic Calendar and Registration Calendar.

We hope you have a wonderful semester!  If you have any questions, please contact your program office.
