Important Financial Information
It is important for all students to check on ALBERT to see if they have an outstanding balance on their NYU account. Payment of tuition and other educational expenses was due August 27, 2008. In accordance with School of Law policy, if a student has an arrears balance, effective November 1, the following will occur:
● Graduating students: You will not be certified for state bar examinations and will be unable to obtain official transcripts and/or a diploma.
● Continuing students: Your Spring 2009 course selections will be dropped.
● 1L students will be blocked from participating in the first-year elective registration. Additionally, their spring courses will be dropped from their schedules. Even if you pay your balance after your classes have been dropped, but before the add/drop period begins on December 1, you must wait until December 1 to access ALBERT and re-register for classes.
Although you will be able to participate in add/drop once you clear your account, the classes you previously selected or wanted in the first-year elective registration may be unavailable. Also, please note that spring add/drop begins December 1, 2008, and you will not be able to add courses until that date. Spring add/drop continues until January 18, 2009.
Please bear in mind that it is your responsibility to make sure your financial account is in order. If the delay in your payment is due to an error by the Office of Student Financial Services or your lender, or if you are experiencing difficulties in making payment, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services immediately so they can work with you to help resolve the situation. To verify the type and amount of outstanding charges, please review your student account online through ALBERT at NYU Home. Some outstanding balances may be related to health services copays, deferred computer charges, or other fees recently posted to your Bursar account. You can pay your balance in person at the Bursar’s Office at 25 West 4th Street or contact the Bursar at (212) 998-2800 regarding other payment options. It takes 24 to 48 hours to have a block removed from your account once your balance is paid in full.
With regard to your student account, please note that all billing is processed by NYU’s Office of the Bursar. The University’s Electronic Billing System (E-bill) is the official means of generating tuition bills for enrolled NYU Law students. No paper bills are mailed. Students will receive an email at their official NYU email address (netid@nyu.edu) notifying them when a bill is available. Students must activate their e-bill account to be able to view electronic bills. E-bill will indicate charges and credits for the upcoming semester, as well as any balance due from previous semesters. Students may access the Electronic Bill Site by following the steps outlined at www.law.nyu.edu/financialaid/bursarandbilling/index.htm.
